Are you curious how many people are using products from vendors other than Citrix? Do you want to know if anyone else is doing the "double hop" method of server-based computing? How many other companies also buy third-party profile management products? What's more popular: blades or VMs? These are the types of questions that many of us wonder about. These are the things that people talk about a BriForum and in our forums.
To that end, Gabe and I have put together a "state of the industry" survey where we're asking all sorts of questions about your desktop and application virtualization (both in its current state and what you have planned for next year). We're taking a holistic look at Terminal Server, VDI, application streaming and virtualization, and hardware virtualization.
We're also asking a few questions about your job and role within the company. We'd love figure out who's responsible for desktop and application virtualization initiatives. Is it the desktop team? The server team? Is there executive mandate?
Once we collect and crunch all the data, we'll publish the results on BrianMadden.com in January. Personally I'm really excited to see how many people are using the various virtualization products and techniques. (And since we're also asking questions about how big your organization is and in what region of the world you work, we're hoping to define trends like "Technique xx is the most popular with small businesses in Europe.")
As a final incentive for spending the five minutes or so taking the survey, we'll randomly pick two names to win free admission to BriForum 2009 Chicago or a free copy of my 5-day Citrix Master Class e-learning DVD.

We're going to leave this survey open through the end of the year, so feel free to take it during the slower holiday times.
