I've posted a new episode of "Sequencing With Tim Mangan", an occasional series looking at the Microsoft App-V product in action.
In this episode, we look at sequencing the latest version of Camtasia Studio from TechSmith. I use Microsoft App-V 4.5 "CU1" on a Windows 7 virtual machine. The application doesn't install cleanly, so there is a work-around we need to perform.
In the video, I also show why Microsoft should put back a "minimize" feature into the sequencer. They removed this in 4.5 and I have been trying to make the case with them that they should have some sort of minimize available, so far without luck.
I also show a new trick for potentially improving the launch time performance of virtual applications. In thinking about VDI deployments and creating "layer cakes" in the future, this would be a small performance help, and it doesn't seem to hurt in other situations. This trick involves Windows application "prefetch", and a free tool I made called "touch".
