Geek Speak Road Trip #2 coming to Des Moines

Yes, it's true. The hit event of last year's Synergy and the latest Partner Summit conference is coming back to Des Moines on December 4th, 2008.

Yes, it's true.  The hit event of last year's Synergy and the latest Partner Summit conference is coming back to Des Moines on December 4th, 2008.  Last June we (Citrix and Alliance Technologies) brought Geek Speak out on the road for the first time and had a great turnout.  We had Jason Conger, Barry Flanagan, Doug Brown, and me.  I'm still working on this event's speakers, but suffice it to say, they will be just as awesome as the last event.

This year we are adding a very interesting twist.  My colleague at Citrix, James Rabey, is planning on holding a virtual Geek Speak event on that same day, so if you can't join us in wonderful Des Moines (I know you are all wishing you could be in Iowa in the winter right?), you can join in on some of the conversations and participate via the web at the live event.  James and I are still working out the details on this, so stay tuned.

So here are the details as I have them right now:

December 4, 2008 at the Des Moines Golf & Country Club from 1:00pm - 4:00-pm.  After the sessions, we will be getting together for food and drinks in the Ballroom from 4:00pm - 5:00pm. I hope everyone that is in the area can make it and those of you who aren't join us over the web for the virtual event.

I'm very excited to be doing this again with my friends at Citrix.  It's going to be another great event and the conversations are going to be just as exciting and engaging.

Stay tuned folks.

Are there any plans in setting-up a geek-speak road trip somewhere in Europe?

Ruben,

I might suggest that we get a call going with James.  Would you like me to coordinate that?  Email me and let me know.

Cheers

I am taking it upon myself to get the ball rolling here on this for my friends and colleagues in Europe.  So I am wondering what country?  Any preferences?  I'm open for comments here folks so email me offline and we can discuss further.

Cheers

The Challenge in europe is always to find a location, if it is outside of the participants respective countries, chances are their companies wont allow them to go for it. Going to an event in another country, even in europe, is often considered a special thing, and most people are limited on these, so it has to be local to alot of people to avoid people having to sacrifice their trip to synergy, summit, vmworld, briforum, pubforum or whatever.

You guys could make the road trip a real theme and do alot of countries up through europe?.

Spain -> france -> Italy -> Netherlands -> Germany -> Denmark(must-visit-country;))

Rene - :-)

Hi Michael,

I've just posted some information about the virtual Geek Speak in my blog at community.citrix.com/.../Geek+Speak+Live!+Goes+Virtual.

I'm also encouraged to read the enthusiasm for European road trips or local events and agree that they need to be in country as much as possible. Its on my plans for early next year.

Rene/Ruben, I'll talk to you guys once I get over my jet lag :-).

-James.
