Check out our BriForum 2007 Magazine Ad

Last week I wrote that we got access to some last-minute, dirt-cheap ad space in Windows IT Pro magazine. We were excited about that because we're hoping to expand the audience of BriForum now that we're focusing on all Application Delivery technologies.

Last week I wrote that we got access to some last-minute, dirt-cheap ad space in Windows IT Pro magazine. We were excited about that because we're hoping to expand the audience of BriForum now that we're focusing on all Application Delivery technologies (streaming, virtualized applications, etc.) instead of pure Windows Terminal Server and Citrix Presentation Server-based solutions.

The downside of course was that we needed an ad pronto!

Emily and I were in Amsterdam last week attending PubForum, but we worked with our designer Xandra Green and came up with this:

BriForum 2007 Magazine Ad

We wanted something catchy, yet simple. So look for us in the December print issue of Windows IT Pro!

Brian, please read our company policy manual. Chapter 3, page 43 clearly states that underpants need to be worn underneath, not on the outside.
Please rectify the situation whenever is convenient.
Thank you.

Me read the manual? How about you?

If you read a few paragraphs further, you'll note that exceptions can be made when "...the wearer is posses super-human strength, flexibility, or other traits that would qualfy him or her as a super hero." It goes on to mention that the underwear must be clean and either red, green, blue, yellow, or gold, but I think we meet both of those requirements too.

So I think we're good.

It looks like your advertising a GAY festival not a SBC conference. But hey I will shut up because I probably couldnt do better

Actually Brian, I would use a "normal"  picture of you instead of your superheroes. You are, whether you like it or not, a famous person among the people you are trying to reach and an I think your picture would be a greater "I catcher" than the current one. I would also move the BriForum logo to the upper right.

I respect the humor and this site and what is has done for the SBC users of the world but I trully feel this is a very unprofessional advertisement. Very hard to show this to management, for something I would like to go to. Sure bash this comment if you want but this picture is just wrong.

I don't think the ad is unprofessional.. Pick up any IT magazine and look at all the crazy ads, people getting blown up, seductive women, etc.. We're trying to show that BriForum is different and funky, and I don't think two geeks in superhero suits is gonna cause people to spit out their coffee.

If your boss doesn't let you come to BriForum because the ad features superheroes, then man, I feel for you.. I'd say just don't show them the ad.. And if they're reading Windows IT Pro on their own, then that means they're technical, so they can see the merits of BriForum on their own.

But back to the unprofessional thing.. seriously? What part is unprofessional? The super heroes? The masks? The red underroos?

Brian,
The underwear is what did the picture just wrong. Please note I understand and respect this site, your work and everything that goes with it. If I could post about some of the other ads that I see in what are supposed to be professional magazines I would say the same thing.
Shoot me, but I think things like booth babes at conferences are gross. There is a time and a place for things but sometimes there isn't. My opinion on the picture is my thoughts. This isn't going to stop me from going.
Keep up the good work you do. Again my opinion is just that my opinion.

Perhaps instead of having two geeks, you could have had you, Brian, at the front in the underpants and Katie or Emily doing the seductive babe bit at the back?

Haha.. I'm not sure they would go for that.

Either way, we only had about 48 hours to get this together, so custom photography was not an option.
