BriForum is Coming to Europe!

Due to many requests, we have decided to conduct a BriForum conference in Europe from October 4-6, 2006. We are partnering with visionapp, an international SBC solution specialist headquartered in Germany, to host the English-language event in Darmstadt, Germany (near Frankfurt).

Due to many requests, we have decided to conduct a BriForum conference in Europe from October 4-6, 2006. We are partnering with visionapp, an international SBC solution specialist headquartered in Germany, to host the English-language event in Darmstadt, Germany (near Frankfurt). It will be held at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics.

We've combined the BriForum logo and the visionapp logo to create the logo for the European BriForum event.

+ =

We will of course still have the North American BriForum in the US each spring. Our intention with the European BriForum is to bring more people into the conversation that couldn't make the trip from Europe to the US. We will have the same types of speakers at both events. It's our intention that the European event will be about 50% content from the US BriForum (updated of course) and about 50% new content.

The question is, should you go to both BriForums, or pick one? Our answer: Pick one! Here's why:

Every attendee of BriForum receives free, online access to all of the BriForum content. This includes videos and screen captures of breakout sessions, MP3s, photos, Powerpoints, and other lab material. We decided that everyone who attends a BriForum event will also get free access to the online content from the next BriForum event.

For example, everyone who attended BriForum in Washington last week will get free online access to ALL of the content from BriForum in Germany in October. This will allow attendees to view the content that is new.

Of course all of the attendees of the BriForum conference in Germany will get free access to all the content from BriForum in the US in early 2007.

The bottom line is that we want to do what's "right." Stay tuned for more details about the European BriForum. We'll announce the process for nominating speakers very soon.

That are really good news. Brian, do you remember, when we talked about that on the first course you gave in Germany, in Karlsruhe, hosted by visionapp. Congratulations, that you and Benny Tritsch ( I guess) finally made it real!!!

Greetings from Germany, Daniel

P.S. I ran into Alex (Dr. Conti) today at the airport. He told me, that you won't be able to come to Brussels for pubforum. That's a real pitty but the news above is a adequate compensation :-)

attended the first briforum and was really impressed - just couldn't afford the trip over this year tho' :(

A european briforum  sounds a cracking idea... can I suggest Durham or somewhere like The Sage in Gateshead for 2007 ;)

yes, thats great to hear and im sure it will go well. prehaps selfishly I would prefer it to be in the UK - but we cant have everything and im just happy that you dont forget your european fans :D

Sounds like a great idea Brian, I will probably see you there.

Still think UK would of been a better place though, but I would say that.

Suppose we can have a decent beer!

Ever thought about New Zealand? Sure.. internet access is choked by the local Telecom but the beer *is* better.

The event is called Briforum Europe, not Briforum UK!

Brian,
Please please please get yourself a Jewish calendar.
This year's BriForum was on Passover, which prevented several of us from attending.
Now you've set the European BriForum so that it coincides with Sukkot, another major Jewish holiday.

How about PubForum @ Nov. 2 through 5, 2006? Amsterdam, I guess.

Looking forward to it... have already written Briforum i my calender for those days..  I'm from Denmark, so Germany is a lot closer and a lot cheaper for me....

last time i looked, we're still in europe ;)

I do have a Jewish calendar. According to why I'm seeing, Sukkot doesn't start until Oct 7--the day after BriForum Europe. There are 40 days each year that are Jewish holidays, so scheduling around them and the Christian holidays and iForum and Pubforum.... It's not that easy!

Brian,
FWIW Jewish holidays begin on the evening of the previous day. So Sukkot actually begins on Friday evening, October 6th.

I will be there.. its only a drive... its better than the swim to the states ;-)

Germany, UK, Bruxelles, Amsterdam, who cares Europe is a tiny place :-)

hmm.. i think u made an error.. the oktoberfest is actually held in munich and in november..
Cancel
Hmmmm November???? Oktoberfest in Munich starts in September and ends in October - maybe that's helpful for planning your trip from Octoberfest Munich to Briforum Europe

Doesn't "partnering" with a vendor sort of fly in the face of the original BriForum concept?

I am not throwing mud here, just curious as to what the thought process was....
