As you say, "This is literally everything you need to fully experience being at BriForum", so next year I'll stay at home and just buy the DVD's. One of the main reasons that I attended was the assertion made on the BriForum web site that video of the conference would be available to attendees ONLY.

Hey anonymous coward : What's the point ? Brian and co's great work is all about sharing knowledge !
I was not able to attend BriForum and I am glad DVD's are out and available to all.

Why wouldn't we make these DVDs available? Don't you want more people to share in the experience of all the great sessions at BriForum?

I's not like we made the DVDs just to spite the people who attended. In fact, we only decided to make DVDs after we started receiving dozens and dozens of emails asking for them. (By attendees and non-attendees.) But we also wanted to respect the people who attended the show which is why we made pricing the way we did. ($50 for BriForum attendees, $190 for non-attendees.)

Either way, we'll plan on making DVDs next year too, so if you don't want to attend BriForum live then yes, you can just wait and buy the DVD set (although we have big plans for hands-on stuff next year, so the difference between the DVDs and the live experience will be much greater).

Thanks for the feedback!

I was unable to attend BriForum this year and am very glad that the DVD's are available but it's not the same as actually going. With the DVD's you don't get to ask any questions or network with the leaders in the community and other Citrix Admins. And why would you want to sit your office or cube and watch DVD's when you can be in DC :)

Thanks for the previous student discount Brian I'm finally getting to apply the information I learned while at the Vegas class and can't wait to watch the DVD's.

Very calm response Brian I would have went off on his ass if I was you:). Sounds like on of these people who wants to know everything but does not want to share. Seems very greedy.

I think what you have done is fair. For the people that attended the briforum price be lower for the DVD's and the people that did not the price higher. I am a person who did not attend but will be buying at the full price as it is fair.

I have to agree. It cost me about $US 4K to attend, and I spent more time in aircraft just getting there than at the conference itself. The reason that I went was because I wanted to see the presentations (obviously) and because it was stated on the Briforum web site that the videos would only be available to attendees. I wouldn't have gone if I'd known that the videos were going to be available to anyone that wanted them.

How about making the ISO of the DVDs available for even a cheaper price? I thought the DVDs were going to be available for free to those of us who attended the awesome conference.

Hi Guys,

The DVD content is free for BriForum attendees! It is the exact 100% same content that's available for download from the private area of the BriForum.com website. No ISOs are needed--you can access it now! (I should also emphasize the fact that that content has been available since April 15, while the DVDs were not available until two months later.) This content is only available to BriForum attendees--not the general public.

The only difference between the downloadable content and the DVDs is that the DVDs have higher quality videos since we had 9GB of space to work with. Obviously it's not realistic to make 9GB of video available for download from the website.

As for the disappointment in us making the DVDs available to the public, I have to say that we can agree to disagree from a philosophical standpoint on this. Everything we do as a company is about knowledge sharing and openness, and we do not want to be "elitist" by suggesting to people, "You didn't come to our show? Then no content for you!"

Of course we recognize that people made significant investments--both time-wise and monetarily--to attend BriForum, and we don't want to undermine that. However, we feel there's a huge difference between attending a conference and watching a DVD on your computer two months later.

Brian,

While I can see the point of the gentlemen speaking to the cost of attending BriForum, I feel that attending gives you so much more value than just a DVD. When attending, you have personal interaction with other attendees, creating business or personal relationships that can provide a benefit later. You can also ask your own questions, not just listen to what others ask for themselves.

Regards,

Jack Cain

I received my DVD last week and have only watched a couple of the sessions but I am very impressed. Great work BriForum team and can't wait for BriForum 2006!
