Citrix announced a major reorganization today. Bob Kruger, their CTO and Senior VP of product management is leaving the company, along with Jeanne Moreno, their CIO. There are a few departmental shifts taking place, most notably that the customer care team will now report into the sales and services organization.

Could this be the shot in the arm that Citrix needs to change the culture of the company?

Bob Kruger was the person within Citrix who had announced their CVP program. (Citrix's version of the Microsoft MVP program.) I guess this means I won't be meeting with him later this month to talk about it...

Kruger also had deep ties with Microsoft, so his departure might now mean that Microsoft will be more free to do what they want without worrying as much about Citrix.

If one has a good eye on what MS is doing with the upcoming release(s) for Terminal Services, and how proactive and open the community that is already established there, this is just a knee-jerk reaction that will take too long to realize.

Bob Kruger is responsible for some incredible strategic failures like project vertigo and the acquisition of Sequoia. I believe this is good news for Citrix. The recent buy of gotomypc is the first sensible decision to come out of this company for years.

Although it was a bust, the Sequoia deal was nearly done when Kruger joined Citrix. Vertigo was also well ahead of his time.

I have been told Novell has started a Linux based TS project that looks a lot like NFuse. Maybe Bob can jump start the project!
