BriForum 2013 Chicago session video: Hyper-V and System Center: How Good Can It Be?

Many organizations are searching for a lower-cost alternative to VMware these days, even more now with recent licensing changes from VMware.  As a follow up to my session in 2009, we take a look at how far Hyper-V and System Center have come, determine what Hyper-V can do in an unbiased, real-world view of where the limitations lie and where the products excel.  The goal is to present a real-world view of whether Microsoft platform has a place in the production data centers of today’s consumers and how it stacks up against VMware, considering cost, support models and other factors. Attendees will leave with a good understanding as to the limitations of Hyper-V/SCVMM vs. VMware and where each is a good fit in an organization.

Topics covered will also include:

  • Understand where Microsoft has improved the platform since 2009/2010
  • Understand how Microsoft's solution compares to VMware
  • Understand what limitations or shortcomings the Microsoft stack still has compared to VMware
