We have an immediate opening in our Los Angeles office for a Senior IIS/Citrix Engineer.

This position is responsible for the daily support of web applications on Microsoft IIS and published applications via Citrix Presentation Server servers. This is both a support as well as architectural role, with the candidate needing to be comfortable designing technical solutions.

Candidate must also have experience with Windows Server 2003, Active Directory, DNS, network load balancing, DMZ / firewall configuration and extranets. Candidate must be well versed in web server backup and restoration for disaster recovery, able to troubleshoot web applications, handle performance tuning and publishing applications with Citrix. Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft SQL connectivity from IIS applications is also required.

Requirements include 4+ years experience in a medium to large enterprise environment. Must have experience designing and implementing/upgrading Citrix Presentation Server 4/4.5 or Xen. Desirable technology experience includes former experience as a Microsoft SQL DBA, Microsoft SharePoint Server, VMWare ESX.

Must be able to work well with the existing team of system engineers, have excellent communication skills, and be able to handle multiple projects and support requests. Strong documentation skills are required.

Preferred certifications include Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator or Citrix Certified Integration Architect and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). A four year college degree is preferred. Participation in after hour support rotation and project work is required for this role.

Passing client IP between servers... is it possible?

I have some silos, one of which hosts a desktop, and some other which host some specialized applications. When a user launches the desktop, it naturally sees the client's IP address. When they launch an app from the desktop that resides in one of the other silos, the client NAME gets passed through OK, but the second server sees the desktop server's IP, rather than the client IP. This is causing some issues with our IP-based policies. Is there a way to pass the client's IP through? We're using PNAgent on the desktop to provide the other applications.

Any and all suggestions would be welcome.

Speedscreen Multimedia Video not working

Hi all,

I try to publish some videos to our PS/Xenapp users.

I published mplayer2.exe (6.4), Speedscreen Multimedia Acceleration is enabled, legacy audio is enabled. Codes and DirectX9c installed on both client and server.

But all videos (avi and wmv) are awfully slow and choppy. Sound is running but also very bad quality, alot of pauses and choppy. Running the same video local on the server or client is no problem. even with RDP the performance is much better.
I have the impression that Speedscreen is running, because when I turn it of, the video performance is even worse.

What am I doing wrong?

System is W2k3 SP2 PS4.0 R03, Client 2k or XP with PNA 9.150 or 10.2

Hello all,

Speedscreen Multimedia is activated. I published mplayer2.exe (Media Player 6.4). For that, legacy audio is activated. Codes are installed on both server and client. DirectX 9.0c on both server and client.

But all videos (avi and wmv) are awfully slow and choppy. Sound is running but also very bad quality, alot of pauses and choppy. The performance ist just really bad.
When running the videos on the local server, client or even with RDP, the performance is much better.

What am I doing wrong?

System is W2k3 SP2 PS40 R03, Client 2k or XP with PNA9.150 or 10.2.

Policy/Rule to ignore idle timeout settings during business hours?

Hey guys,

Can this be done? I want to be able to set an idle timeout (ICA) of 2 hours, but at the same time I want to have that timeout ignored (or not in effect) during a set time period. For example, from 8 am to 5 pm, I don't want idle sessions to be disconnected. But after 5:00 pm, I DO want the idle sessions to disconnect.

Can this be done?

We are running MetaFrame PS4 on Windows 2003 Servers.

What do you guys think?

Pres Server 4.0, no Domain when Publishing Apps

Help!

When publishing a new App in my CTX MF PS 4.0 farm, the domain doesn't show up when I add users.

I have tried the fix in the CTX article below:

but it was no help.

Has anyone seen this before?

Cross-Forest Trust and PS4.0

I have an odd issue that I spent all day yesterday troubleshooting, with no success.

I have a Web Interface site (4.5.1.8215) which is managing two Citrix farms – one PS4.5, one PS4. I have users in another domain forest who need access to this site, and a cross-forest trust exists between the forest in which the Citrix servers live and the forest in which the users are located. Note again that the trust exists at the forest level and not the domain level.

And now for the odd part.: If I remove the PS4 farm from management in the WI site (Manage Server Farms option), users in a domain in the trusted forest have no trouble logging in to the WI. Their applications are enumerated and they can launch published apps. When I add the PS4 farm back into the managed farms, however, users in domains in the trusted remote forest can no longer log in to the WI (Error message: The supplied credentials were invalid. Please try again or contact your system administrator for help).

To rule out any issue with the WI or the setup of the website, I created application sets in the PN with connections to the PS4 and PS4.5 farms. Same result – was able to authenticate to the PS4.5 farm, but not the PS4 farm, when using an account in the remote trusted forest. The error message when trying to authenticate to the PS4 farm was the same as when attempting to log into the WI.

I figure that it’s an issue with either the XML or IMA service in PS4, but I haven’t been able to find the solution. Has anyone out there had this issue and resolved it?

(BTW, I found a recent similar post where the solution was to add the Domain Users group from the trusted domain to the local Users and/or Remote Desktop Users group/policy. Tried that, no luck.)

Seamless app a pain in the ***

Hi Everyone

I've got a slight problem with seamless apps.

I have an app published, and users access the app via a PN agent.

The problem is when on the client PC, you select the default screen size to operate in, When Seamless or default is selected, the app opens seamlessly, but is full screen, hence you lose the windows task bar.

If you select one of the other default sizes, the app no longer runs in seamless, but in a window, but then you get your task bar back.

Is there a setting on the server or client, that will allow the app to be run seamlessly, but the app doesn't take up the whole screen?

I have PS4 running on W2K3 SP2, clients 9.15, tested with 10.2, and 11.

Failing to connect via CSG using JRE 6 / 10

Hi. Our Citrix PS 4.5 server which sites behind a Citrix Secure Gateway server has recently been causing a number of support calls. Users are failing to establish a connection as they get an error saying that the server cannot be found. We have isolated a common factor of these users using Java 6 update 10 (the latest) and going via a proxy server. We can also replicate this issue. Our users ONLY connect using the Java client. I have tried downloading and installing the latest Java client for the Web Interface to no avail. Anybody help ??
