Completely decommisioned old farm and servers(6) and 2K TS License server.
I use WYSE S10's and 1125's to connect to my farm published desktop and apps.

I have plenty of TS cals for my user base but have currently run out of TS licenses. When I look at my TS License I noticed that I have a bunch of licenses issued (about 60) to my old 2K TS/Citrix boxes. I had 6 servers in my old farm, so each one is issued multiple licenses.
These license have expiration dates starting end of this month and running through Oct. I know they will return to the available pool when they expire, but the bulk of them are a couple of weeks away.

I would like to try to reclaim these now. MS clearing house wont reissue me licenses, told me to reinstall TS licensing.

If I deactivate, uninstall, reinstall and reactivate what affect will that have on my currently issued TS lic to my WYSE units? Will those still be good until they expire and then they will just be reissued a new one from the new install? I've ran into some issues with Edgesight 4.5 Licensing and Citrix suggested to switch the servers to use Platinum licensing. Well according to article CTX115890 I should be able to see the option under Server Options -> Set Metaframe Edition for Platinum after either applying a hotfix PSE400R03W2K3058 or Rollup Pack 4. I have tried applying and re-installing rollup packs consequently and I still do not see the option. I also tried to install the R05 just to try it and still do not see the option. Before I did all the steps mentioned above I moved the server over to it's own farm by running chfarm command and creating a new farm with MS Access database to make sure it's on it's own and not interacting with the original data store for testing purposes.

I also found a published script on Citrix site called SetCPSEdition.vbs that manually sets the Edition on a single server or the whole farm. Windows 2003 is our current server standard, and we haven't begun investigating Windows 2008.

My manager asked me to find out if it might make more sense to get Windows 2008 Terminal Server Licenses, since it appears that they may be able to support 2003 Terminal Servers according to this document.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/licensing-faq.aspx
Q. Can I downgrade a TS CAL for use on a Windows 2003 terminal server?

A.
Yes. You may downgrade Windows Server 2008 TS CALs. However, both TS User and Device CALs will act as device-based CALs when accessing a Windows 2003 terminal server, as TS User CALs are not supported.

However, we do want to go with Per User rather than Per Device. We have users who work from home as well as in the office, or in other locations. Is my understanding correct that in order to support our users we will need to purchase all the licenses as Windows 2003 Per User CALs and if/when we upgrade to Windows 2008 we'll need to repurchase all the licenses again?Read more:Group: Tech Support ForumsForum: Licensing

Testking, TestkingWorld, Pass4Sure, and other Braindumps

It seems that not too many people here understand the severity associated with using braindumps; so I'm going to explain why the companies listed in my subject line (along with nearly 1000 other braindump sites) are illegal and will cause you to lose your certifications.

If you're not familiar with CertGuard, get familiar with it. Google it, Yahoo it, do whatever you have to, but know what you're in for when you choose to cheat; or better yet, when you choose not to take 10 minutes to do a little reasearch that will save your certifications.

Before I go any further, I know there are members here that are direct affiliates of those sites and I want them to know that CertGuard is working with Certification Vendors to have all of your braindump sites shutdown. If we can't get them shut down permanently, we will at least have the attention of the vast majority of your target audience, which will reduce your sales and ultimately FORCE you to shut them down on your own.

Now, for those of you not affiliated with the illegal sites, do yourself a favor and avoid them. It's no secret that Certification Vendors have begun "decertifying" everyone that they find cheating. Many of the vendors aren't even asking questions...if you cheat, you lose your certification automatically...and they now have ways of proving that you've cheated. So stop now before you do get caught.

Why are braindumps illegal?

1. They are STOLEN questions and answers from the ACTUAL EXAMS. Stealing is illegal, accepting stolen property is illegal.

2. They violate the Non-Disclosure/Candidate Agreement that you sign before taking the exam. Violation of this agreement is grounds for decertification.

What kind of excuses will allow me to use braindumps?

NONE! Not a single one. There is no excuse for using dumps. The certification vendors don't care if you have "real world experience", or if you "know how to research, but aren't good at taking tests". You know what they care about? They care about the VALUE of their certification program and how cheaters that use braindumps ruin the program for all the honest, hard-working, professionals that have what it takes to EARN the certifications without resorting to information that was stolen from the actual exams.

Well, how do I know what sites are ok to use?

You have to learn how to research! If you're going to survive in the IT Industry, this is one of the many undocumented requirements of every professional. Over 12 months ago CertGuard created a Braindump Identification System that instantly gives you information on over 2,600 certification related websites. Use it for every certification site you visit. If the box in the middle is a "redish" color, avoid he site. It's THAT simple!

How is BrianMadden.com classified?

Currently, because of all the references to braindump websites and unmoderated forums, CertGuard has classified BrianMadden.com as having "Dirty Forums". Basically, this means that the majority of the site looks good enough to pass our initial tests, but until the braindump references are deleted or removed from public view, this site will not be considered "Safe". We hope to change that soon.

See for yourself: http://www.certguard.com/search.asp?Site=brianmadden.comRead more:Group: OtherForum: Certification
