This works fine for all our users.

We use ThinPrint as a print accelerator and hence our "login" web page sets up the ThinPrint client dll as an RDP addin. Again this all works fine and all of our users can print OK.

The problem we have is that on a random basis (about 1% of connection attempts) then the ThinPrint client dll is not loaded properly by IE. The result is that the ThinPrint server cannot establish a connection to the ThinPrint client and hence the user cannot print.

This happens on a completely random basis - i.e. its independent of the user, the user terminal, the terminal server they are using etc - and because our users are remote we can never debug what is happening on their workstation.

If they kill IE and re-start it then the next attempt to connect will work - so its a completely transient problem.

Has anyone else come across this sort of problem - i.e. where IE is failing to load an RDP addin?

thanks,
Dave
Read more:Group: Tech Support ForumsForum: Terminal Services

Multiple keyboards/mice

Suppose I would like to connect 2 keyboards, 2 mice and 2 VGA card to a single PC. (At this point I'm open to XenApp, Terminal Services or whatever) The remote workstations (used and maintained by business partners) are "validated" for data processing integrity, so no modifications can occur to the configuration. Thus access can't depend on any third party software such as Java, Active-X, Silverlight, Flash, or third party client software which would persist past the end of the session. (I don't know if ThinApp would fit or not)

The AccessStick looks promising, but would be costly to distribute. For example, I can launch the client, then from within my ica session I open Internet Explorer. Wfica32.exe on the thin client in this case, goes up by about 320k. Then, for every other instance of IE that I open, another 320k of memory is called up by wfica.exe. When I close the IE instances, the memory used by wfica32.exe remains, it doesnt go back to what it started with. Eventually, my T5720 with 256MB of flash memory runs out, causing other services to fail. I dont get this result with any of my other thin clients, be it 128MB of flash or 1GB of flash. They do accumulate memory, but never crash. I forgot to mention that we are using the Citrix Metaframe Presentation Server version 4.0 and client version 10.2, 10.150 and tested with 9.0. Also, our thin clients are connecting via web interface. One more recent thing I noticed, is that if I minimize the ICA client, the memory used by wfica32.exe drops down to about 2000k, but when I bring it back up the memory goes back to what it was using, unless I first close all instances of IE prior to minimizing, then the memory goes back to about 2000k after restoring the window.Read more:Group: Tech Support ForumsForum: Citrix Presentation Server / XenApp

What does the content redirection /q "%*" do ?
