In a bid to make DR a more effective I want to pose this question....

I have a site running PS4.0 with some standard users (office type apps) and a DR site again configured with the same stuff but running PS4.5.

The plan is to migrate the old farm to 4.5 status but prior to that I want to try and reduce costs by popping users onto the DR farm. No problem with this yet eh.... they can happily exist in their own little world. My questions are:

? Can I balance the users between the sites as is so users are presented with a single icon and the balancing is still sorted
? If there is latency between the sites of say 200ms will this cause undue problems
? How would I go about it?

Any help would be mucho appreciated here, a diagram for the simple people would be fantastic.

I have recently joined an organisation that has a very strange IT environment, and I am having trouble getting an understanding from the internal staff as to what the problems are and I wanted to get an experieced citrix guru's opionion.

So the setup is as follows: small offices in every state inc NZ, data centre in NSW, the offices are connecting to the datacentre through verizon 1mb MPLS links. The people consist of about 120 laptop users (they connect in via a wifi 3G card), who travel frequently, and about 80 desktop/thin client users. We have citrix running to all users and presenting file shares, printing, great plains and MS office (even outlook). My experience as a new user has not been good, I find the citrix delivery of MS office confusing and inefficeint especially outlook. Office apps frequent experience significant lag, and I am finding that settings within outlook often are not maintained and 'reset' between sessions.

I am also finding that the PCs are not locked down properly allowing some to run office apps locally as well this creats more confusion.

My question is this can citrix present ms office apps 'properly' in a perfect world. And should we be delivering office to mobile laptop users?

- Responsibilities will include working on site for various clients throughout the DC Metro Area (occasional travel out of town will be required) for about 25% of the time. The other work will be done in their local offices.

- Candidates will be primarily responsible for the installation, configuration, and architecting of Citrix on Network Servers. Citrix allows users at multiple PC?s to access applications from one server through virtualization. This saves time and money for clients who would otherwise have to install the applications on individual PC?s.

- While detailed Citrix installation work is not required, some knowledge of Citrix is along with a strong Systems Engineering background is.

- Candidate should exude self-confidence, strong articulation, strong writing skills, and ability to problem-solve effectively.

- Experience in the areas of Windows Server, Networking, WAN/LAN, firewalls, routers, switches, and database are all preferred. The more of those areas the candidates have touched the better.

- College Degree is preferred but not required.

- CCIA (Citrix Certified Information Architect), CCEA (Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator) are a huge plus.

- 10% annual bonus paid out quarterly (2.5%) per quarter based on professionalism, presentation, client surveys, and filling out timesheets on time. In our meeting yesterday they emphasized that with little exception this is generally 100% attainable no questions asked.

- The opportunity also offers spot bonuses and pays for Citrix Certification training.

we are facing one strange issue in our CITRIX farm.

Farm Detils,

in our farm all servers are running with CPS4.0 windows 2000 standard edition and datastore we are using SQL server.

Issue:

when we reboot one server in the farm imediately other servers are disconnecting from network and we are getting following error message

Error - IMA_RESULT_DBCONNECT_FAILURE

please help on this as early as possible.

hope someone can help me with this one.

I installed Skype (business MSI) on our test server, but not in an AIE (since I do not have Enterprise Edition yet). I followed these instructions How to Install Skype in a Presentation Server 4.0 Environment which are basically the same on a PS 4.5 server. Our test server is patched with PSE450W2K3R01, PSE450R01W2K3003, PSE450R01W2K3009 and PSE450R01W2K3035. I published the application and created a Policy to allow for High Sound Quality and enabled the microphone for the clients.

Next, I login to my test desktop through ICA and fire up the published application. Skype logs in and I can chat , make calls and everything. The problem is that there is a terrible echo in the sound which makes the application totally unusable.

Does anyone have any clue on where I can find information or patches for this problem?
