Joe customer has a small Citrix Farm, with two servers and a CAG. When users need to access the WI Portal - they can type in portal.company.com in their browser and DNS redirects them to the default URL of the Citrix Server running WI. The problem is that the URL is wrong. The URL they are presented with goes to the wrong Citrix site.

There are two WI sites configured, ....\Metaframe1 for the users coming from the CAG, and ....\Metaframe for those with a 'direct' connection.

But Joe user coming through a browser on the local subnet receives the URL meant for the CAG users. I checked the Webinterface.conf, and it is currently set at ...\Metaframe for the site. So why is it internal users get the ...\Metaframe1 URL?

Management wants to know if there is enough benifit from XenApp 5.0 over Terminal Server 2008 to justify the purchase.

Right off the bat I'm saying that we will have to find another way to get the remote users into the system since CSG will go away.

Since we will be using RDP instead of ICA will the fat client users still get "seamless windows" for their published apps? Will I still be able to use Web Interface or will I have to come up with my own web site? If I create my own "Web Interface" will I still be able to present just the application or is my only option to present a full desktop?

As you can tell I don't really know much about native terminal server. I don't have a test lab that I can play in at this time. I will have two new servers on order in the next few weeks so I will be albe to look at native terminal server at that time.

We've the following situation:
Al users log on to the web interface with their UPN (for example: username@domain.local).
When a user launch an application the application will start without any problem. But when a user have a UPN over 20 characters, he was unable to reconnect to the disconnected session.

Our farm: Citrix Presentation server 4.5 (with hotfix rollup pack 2) installed on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition x86.

In a bid to make DR a more effective I want to pose this question....

I have a site running PS4.0 with some standard users (office type apps) and a DR site again configured with the same stuff but running PS4.5.

The plan is to migrate the old farm to 4.5 status but prior to that I want to try and reduce costs by popping users onto the DR farm. No problem with this yet eh.... they can happily exist in their own little world. My questions are:

? Can I balance the users between the sites as is so users are presented with a single icon and the balancing is still sorted
? If there is latency between the sites of say 200ms will this cause undue problems
? How would I go about it?

Any help would be mucho appreciated here, a diagram for the simple people would be fantastic.

This started happening in some clients only. I've gone over all the options and it still happening.

I'ved uninstalled and installed clients 10.150, 10.200, and 11 and still the same error.

what else can i do?

Our setup is as follows:

PS4.5 WI4.6 s. When I configure XAP to use Full screen only the Server desktop does load in Full screen (ALT-TAB works remotely only) but obviously the published applications we need to run seamlessly will also load Full screen.

Is it an issue running both seamless applications and a full desktop via the PNAgent Services site? Or a bug with the XAP? Or am I missing something? :-)

If I change password in Webinterface then i logoff and logon again i then get prompted to change password again.

I´ve tried to have Novell Client with NMAS activated on Webinterface server and on Citrix Server but with the same result. Configured NMAS client to do a trace dont get any log file when changing password from WI.

Got a solution for this?

We are running Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 with a published desktop and Adobe 9.0. Users are connecting to Citrix with a Wyse CE VL30 device. Printers are setup on the thin client locally and are mapped to the com ports.

When a user tries to print a pdf file it balloons from a 16 mb file to 77 mb. Also, when I open the printer properties dialog box to watch the document spool, it clears out of the queue as if it is going to print, but nothing ever comes out of the printer. We found that documents that spool to 7 mb or less, it will print. anything larger does not. Also, if the original document has a lot of color or images, it causes the spool size to increase. Only if the original is in b/w does it print. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get these docs to print or know of another pdf viewer application that is compatible with Citrix that will alleviate this problem?

I have an Win2003, XenApp 4.5 environment with IGEL thin clients in which the users are using a terminal emulation (within the XenApp session). For this emulation the are using a special trimodal keybord with a range of special keys. This is all working quite fine.

Now the users have realised that there is an equal key within the numblock, but it is not working in excel. The strange thing is that I can type it on the thin client (there is a trimodal keyboard option in the settings).

For investigation I have installed a key listener (autohotkey recorder) which is recording the code "233". But at the moment I don't have an idea how to use this code or how to go on.

You guys have for sure some ideas!

I have recently installed a Secure Gateway in front of a couple of PS4.5 servers. It has the Web Interface (4.6) installed on the same box. I have a proper certificate installed. Everything works fine if I use the native client, or the embedded native client. However, if clients try to connect using Java, it fails to connect to the server. I have further isolated this to Java 1.6. A system with Java 1.5 works fine. As soon as I upgrade this to 1.6, it also fails. This is a major problem for us as our users connect in from anywhere (it is an online training suite). We have mandated that they need Java >= 1.6 installed (mostly because of another unrelated Java app that we develop that needs JRE installed).

Can anybody offer any help on this? We are hurting over this at present!!

Note - I am testing this through a proxy server as one of the reasons for the CSG was to overcome an issue of accessing via proxy's.

I know that Citrix states to use 9i or 10g, but they quote thats because 8i isn't supported by Oracle anymore.

I called Citrix tech support and didn't get a warm fuzzy when he said he was looking up the answer in the admin PDF on the www page.

I was told that it should probably work, but he had no clue.

Has anyone done this yet?

I really need to keep it in Oracle as we don't have any DBAs that know SQL and we don't want to use Access for fault tolerance.
