Citrix Virtual Design Studio. Is this the product that was announced at Summit a few months ago that lets you design your Citrix environments virtually? Nope. That's Citrix Workflow Studio. Citrix Virtual Design Studio is the final name for what was codenamed "Project Pictor," a set of extensions for Presentation Server that let it run OpenGL-based CAD applications via ICA. So "Virtual Design Studio" is for Computer Aided Design, virtually.

Daniel Nikolic has just released version 1.1 of his LoadGen tool. This tool is completely free for simulating loads of up to 150 users per server. The idea behind LoadGen is that it is a dirt-simple tool that can run and manage user simulation scripts against Citrix, Provision Networks, or Terminal Server server-based computing environments.

Due to the feedback that received on this article from readers, my colleagues, and Microsoft, I felt it was time to update it to try to provide more of a best practices guide to implementing LanManServer Tuning. The major update is in the Tuning section where I explain how "overtuning" can introduce other performance problems. I've also modified the .adm templates that, when applied, help prevent the file server from running out of NonPaged Pool.

The product, called DeNamiK LoadGen, is in a beta testing phase now and Tim Mangan has had the opportunity to take a fairly deep look at it--resulting in this full-fledged White Paper.

Kevin Goodman and Brian Madden created a huge colorful poster that is a very detailed flowchart of all the steps that take place when a user logs on to a Citrix server. You can download that poster here.
