Microsoft CTO Ray Ozzie calls Citrix Online's Products "Low End"

In one of the two famous leaked memos from Microsoft last month, Microsoft CTO Ray Ozzie wrote that Citrix GoToMyPC and GoToMeeting were low end products and inferred that Microsoft would have no problem competing against them.

What if Citrix dropped ICA and just went with RDP?

I've been thinking a lot about Longhorn Terminal Services and the future of Citrix recently, and I found myself wondering what would happen if Citrix stopped working on ICA and just went with RDP.

Do you need Citrix or is Terminal Server enough?

This question is as old as Terminal Server itself. This editorial looks at the real factors that you should base your decision on. Surprise! It's not ICA vs. RDP or the number of users you have.

If you spend more than $15 on a thin client device then you are a fool!

New thin client devices are rediculously expensive. I think people should just buy old ones from eBay and configure them for DHCP and ICA auto connections. (I'm serious about this.) Read on to learn how and why.

Enough with the Webex lawsuit already!

By now you've most likely read in the "other" tech press that Webex is suing Citrix for cybersquatting. I personally think that while true, this story is way overblown and it's probably a result of a single rambunctious employee at Citrix, and it's not really the fault of Citrix "the company."

Are Citrix's Linux Strategy and Microsoft's Bear Paw Strategy Related?

I wonder if Microsoft's decision to delay Bear Paw until the next platform release of Windows (probably 2007) is a "gift" to Citrix in return for Citrix choosing not to release a version of MetaFrame Presentation Server for Linux. It's actually more plausible than it seems if you dig into it.

Is there any viable alternative to Citrix MetaFrame?

It seems like there are a lot of good alternatives to Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server for a fraction of the cost. This leads to one question: If these other products are so good, then why isn't anyone using them?
