Yesterday Microsoft bought desktop virtualization vendor Kidaro for an undisclosed amount (although rumors suggest as much as $100M). Kidaro makes virtualization software and management tools that "package" Windows desktop images into VMs that can run locally on users' computers. It's a lot like VMware's ACE product, although Kidaro has much better management capabilities.

Citrix Virtual Design Studio. Is this the product that was announced at Summit a few months ago that lets you design your Citrix environments virtually? Nope. That's Citrix Workflow Studio. Citrix Virtual Design Studio is the final name for what was codenamed "Project Pictor," a set of extensions for Presentation Server that let it run OpenGL-based CAD applications via ICA. So "Virtual Design Studio" is for Computer Aided Design, virtually.

I'm often asked whether I'm Citrix-certified. For the past five years, my answer has been "no." And when people find out I'm not, the next question I'm invariably asked is, "Do you think you could pass the exam if you just showed up and took it?"

Looking to "redefine endpoint virtualzation," yesterday Symantec announced that they bought connection broker software vendor nSuite Technologies. Known mostly in the medical field, nSuite's Desktop Connection Broker product manages ICA or RDP connections to virtual desktops and to Terminal Server / Citrix sessions. They also have a single sign-on solution and a rudinmentary desktop shell management product with Proximity Printing.

Yeah, it sure is possible. However, we surveyed the BriForum audience last year, and only about 10-15% of them go to iForum. In fact most people have told us that after attending BriForum, they'll never attend another iForum. :)
But I'll bet there...
