For a customer I've set up 4 identical W2K3R2 virtual servers with XenApp 5. This farm is for legacy applications. The XenApp5 is patched with the latest HRP and all latest patches. On all servers for (legacy) application support MS Office2000 was installed and for Winword corporate templates (styling) are placed on a file share.
On one of the servers Winword starts but terminates immediately without any error, log entry of message that might help me finding a solution for this behaviour. If however I remove the file location of the Winword templates the application starts normally. Since the templates are required that is not an accepted solution/workaround.
This issue has taken quit some time but all investigations didn't provide a solution. The SysInternal tools gave no clue and even reinstalling/repairing MS Office didn't help.
Any ideas ?

It is my understanding shared templates are not supported.
Are shared templates not supported for Office2000 and onwards ? On all the other XenApp servers except this one everything works fine and already for a few years. I have to say this is not the way I would have implemented it but this was done by the customers previous service provider and we had to take over as is.
