Hi, we are using Citrix Streaming Profiler to prepare apps for XenDesktop (XP SP3, Office 2007 is installed to the XP image).

It is working well (kind of slow but we are looking into that)

The trouble is that in any large business like ours there tends to be many many Office Add Ins.

How to handle that ?

Originally we profiled them but each Add In needs a shortcut. Now we find lots of shortcuts in the Start Menu

"Microsoft Word 2007 with no Add In"

"Microsoft Word 2007 with Alpha Add In"

"Microsoft Word 2007 with Beta Add In"

"Microsoft Word 2007 with Gamma Add In"

"Microsoft Word 2007 with Delta Add In"

and then worse ...

"Microsoft Word 2007 with Beta and Delta Add In"

This approach doesn't scale.

Currently looking into installing all the Add Ins to Word on the image and controlling their activation. None available by default.

Risk: maybe not all Add Ins can co-exist, licensing, performance.

How do you stream your Office Add Ins ?

We have very few add-ins that would go to the masses. We simply create a group for this specific plugin and publish it only to the users that need it. When I profile a new add-in I link the profile to the streaming version of the appropriate office app. This way your office profile is only on disk once and you can have as many plugins as needed. Then user only see plugins they have published rather than the whole lot and you don't have to restrict only enable.
