I have installed XenDesktop 4 and am able to successfully connect to VM via Citrix Online Plug-In.

I just added our DDC to our WI server wich sits in the DMZ. I login I can see the icon for the VM but when I launch it it returns "The connection failed with status (1030)".

I'm stuck as there are not event log entries, the Firewall does not show any blocked communication attempts.

I have looked at the ICA....tmp file and it does not shed any light.

Does anyone have any ideas on where to look for this issue?

Thanks.

you may have to open up firewall parts for your xendesktop servers.

I would if any packets were being blocked.  We run Cisco ASAs and I monitored the log and there were not attempts at communication across the firewall that were blocked.

I ran across this thread before.  I would think DNS would be an issue but when I looked at my ICA.tmp file I did not note any DNS names.

I also added the VMs FQDN and IP and still received 1030 error.

Any ideas?

Sorry added to local host file of the web interface server.  I then tested by ping that it was reaching out to correct IP/Name.

For those that also had the same problem, I found the problem.

We have Secure Gateway and while I checked all the firewall logs and made sure that the local host file was populated for DNS resolution I failed to check the Citrix Secure Gateway Event Log on the Secure Gateway Server.

It indicated the following error:  Outbound access control list does not allow connection to server [10.150.1.32:1494], client connection dropped.

I had failed, through the Secure Gateway Configuration to allow for the VM to communicate through the Secure Gateway.  Once I added as a server in the Secure Gateway Configuration I then received the Firewall error about the packets being blocked.

Then I opened up Firewall port and everything worked fine.

Hi Eric,

iam having the similar problem. the desktop from where iam trying is on a diff flat network and i have requested all ports ex: 1494,27000,443  ports to be opened on the firewall. When i plugin my laptop ther on that network it goes straight through.I cant understand if it is a local group pokicy issue or a firewall issue. Could you suggest what settings i could see on the Citrix secure gateway server.

Thanks for your help

Ajay

I know it's a long time ago but your problem sounds very much like mine...

"Once I added as a server in the Secure Gateway Configuration I then received the Firewall error about the packets being blocked." - Can you clarify what you did?

I'll try to remember ....

All was driven by checking the Citrix Secure Gateway Event log and finding the actual block in the logs which will state the IP and Port.

From Citrix Secure Gatway Configuration Wizard

  1. Select Next (Standard Configuration)
  2. Select Ceritificate to be used, Next
  3. I select Monitor all network interfaces & port 443 (if ssl), Next
  4. Select Use an Access Control List, then Configure
  5. Add the IP of the server here and the port from the Event log
  6. Select Next through all remaining prompts and/or configure as necessary

Good luck!

E
