For the past couple of years we installed the hotdesktop in our hospital and have found it to be a very fragile product.  It seems to be very susceptible to upgrades from Citrix, Microsoft patching, etc.

The goal with using the product was to allow users to login/logoff the PC quickly so we could provide quick access to local and Citrix applications.

Since I'm not real please with the Citrix Hot Desktop technology, I am wondering if there is anyone that has used another product or configuration to logon/logoff the user quickly to the PC.  We do have Citrix SSO and plan to keep it but would like to find a better, faster way to get the user to a desktop.  Loading full profiles, etc just takes too long for clinical staff.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Appsense is good product. It's environment manager is based on On-demand technology and loads profiles faster compared to MS solutions and its east to manage.

I'm not looking for this type of management tool.  I am really looking for something like the HotDesktop (fast user switching) that can assist on the desktop to make logging on / off faster.

Hi Mak-

Funny, I actually found it consistent during my implementation phase, but of course I handed it over once completed. Anyway, is your Citrix HotDesktop configured with a smartcard for SSO?

Also, have you applied folder redirection in Active Directory? Go check it out - weird enough I found it to be the most common policy not applied which mitigates some of the profile loading reported issues.
