Good afternoon

I'm a newbie to this forum, and have a hopefully simple question:
I have been searching on the Citrix website to try and find out if
a XenDesktop v2.0 Controller with a higher version of the agent
(v3 or v4) is compatible or more importantly a supported
combination? We are using v2.0 Std, WYSE thin client, with
desktops hosted on VMware ESX 3.5. I am about to start
deploying a new XP desktop image and am undecided about which
version of the agent to use. The v4 agent works OK and registers
fine with the DDC but don't know whether this is a supported
configuration? From previous experience with PS/XenApp new
agents were always backwards compatabe with older servers.
Is this the case with XenDesktop?
Due to time and resource constraints i'm unable to upgrade the
DDC to a newer version other than perhaps 2.1.
Any answers, tips, advice much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Phil, the older versions of the VDA are supported, this way you can migrate to XD4 easily without updating clients.  However this is a moot point in my opinion (as far as support goes), as Citrix will make you update the agent when you log a call Stick out tongue

Hi Emil, thanks for the answer, i'm looking at this from the other way round, we want to roll out some XP clients with v4 agents installed talking to a v2.0 connection server. We don't really have a window to upgrade the server so it will be staying v2.0 for a while, but would like to start upgrading clients to v4 for when we do. Do you know if this is OK and supported?
