Hi I am experiencing a weird issue with a Zebra TLP 2844 printer. While printing labels from a homebrew program installed locally on the machine, the labels print fine, however if printing on the same application using Citrix and the same printer, the fonts appear larger (same font but larger in size) I read something about this being a known issue while using the universal printer driver so I install the drivers provided with the printer which don't appear to be compatible since I could not print at all with them. Someone recommended me to use the Seagull drivers for Zebra printers but still the same issue. Other than creating 2 labels, one for Citrix and one for the PC itself I am not sure what else to do. I performed the same test using RDP and have the same issue so I guess this is more of a terminal services issue.

Does anyone know what else I can try here? Any recommended drivers to use with this?

Thanks in advance

it might not be a Citrix issue. The Zebra TLP 2844 print drivers are not compatible with Win2k3

and which version on Citrix Client are you using? and the version on Presentation Server?

I think you are right, I am beginning to think this is not a Citrix issue after all.

The server is Windows 2003 running Citrix Presentation Server 4.5

For the client, I have tested with a couple different ones. We use the web client and I have tested with the latest one as well as with version 11.

The reason I said I don't thin is a Citrix issue is the following:

On my latest testing, I installed the printer on the client PC, run the application from it (client server application using an Oracle database) and the label printed ok, I then run the application using Citrix and the label didn't look ok. Last, I installed the printer directly on the server using Seagull drivers for Zebra and run the application locally on the server and the label didn't look ok. Now, both the server and the client are using the Seagull Driver and both using defaults during the install. I am beggining to think it is something to do with the server but can't quite figure out what. The client PC uses Windows 7 by the way and I also tested with Windows XP.

Any ideas? The settings of the printer seem to match on the client PC and the server but one looks fine and the other doesn't.

Thanks for the reply... Very informative link.

We use the Zebra 2844's with no issues in our PS 4.0 environment, running on W2K3.  Did you manually install the driver, or use the console to replicate it?  We had seen some issues initially when replicating those drivers, but when you install them manually on the server, all is fine.

Why is it called "Common Sense"? It doesn't seem all that common!

I did install it manually from an RDP session. Downloaded the Seagull files, extracted, run the setup file and install the printer.

What driver did you install?

We are using an older version, dated 09/02/2004.  It looks like it is their version 5.3.4.11. Direct from Zebra Technologies.

This is NOT the Seagull driver, by the way.  Also, you should probably know that Zebra no longer makes the 2844. We are going to be using the GX420t as a replacement going forward (until THAT one get discontinued, too). The Zebra Designer driver works AWESOME in a Citrix environment. The regular driver for it... not so much.  Just an FYI.

Have you tried using the Manufacturer "Generic" and the driver "Generic / Text Only"?  Instead of the actual printer manufactor.  We are using Zebra SL 105's and an in-house Clarion app to print labels, without a problem printing to a label media format.

As I mentioned in a previous post, try using the Zebra Designer driver, not the "standard" one for the printer.  In our testing the standard one failed miserably, but the Designer driver passed with flying colours!

I have been having similar problems with my Zebra 2844. It printed about 5 barcode labels then the font started to get bigger and slightly distorted. In the end I gave up and got another printer. Hope you dont have to do this!
