Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has had any success streaming (to server) IE 6 with an older version of a JRE? We have some older Java-based apps that don't completely w/ the default 1.5.0_09 JRE installed w/ Citrix.
I'm following these basic steps, and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
1 - On my profiler machine (W2k3 SP2, IE6), I choose advanced profiling option, IE Plugin.
2 - Navigate to page to download the JRE 1.4.2_10
3 - Run through JRE setup. Select option to associate w/ IE. Close IE.
4 - Publish profile to share
Now, when I launch the streamed application on a 4.5 server (w/ Java 1.5.0_09 preinstalled), IE launches successfully, and I see the Java 1.5.0_09 systray icon. I can open the java control panel and I do see that Java 1.4.2_10 is there as well. I just have no idea how to tell IE only to use the 1.5.0_09 JRE version.
Any suggestions?
Sorry, it was late....my question should have read: Does anyone know how to tell the streamed IE to use 1.4.2_10?
My environment is...
XenServer 5.0 running VM's
VM 1 - Windows 2k3 Ent. Server Profiler Machine with Profiler 6. I updated Windows and nothing else is installed.
VM 2 - Windows 2k3 Ent. XenApp 5 Server with Windows updated fully and offline plugin 6.
I am trying to stream IE6 with JRE 6up7 to run an IE6 URL. This IE6 URL is a Documentum backend site where I need to open MS Word 2k3 documents.
I've tried every which way but lose to stream IE6 and JRE 6up7 and Off2k3 all in one. The actual creation of the streamed apps goes very smooth. I've even tried linking my IE6 profile to an already created working Off2k3SP3 Profile as well. I can stream just Off2k3SP3 and make it work but linking two different profiles or combining all in one with IE6 and JRE 6up7 just wont work?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I have previously profiled Off2k3 SP3 so I launch the Profiler and link my new profile to my Off2k3 Profile, install JRE inside profiler, launch IE6 inside profiler tweak it to launch my website check that it's running the JRE 6up7 and complete the profile and save.
I publish this on my above mentioned Win2k3 Xenapp5 server and launch it through PNAgent site I created. App launches I log into my IE6 website clikc on Word 2k3 doc and Word launches but acts very wierd. It is responsive one second the next second it appears to be locked up. I checked event log and Word 2k3 appears to be trying to install something? So, therefore looks to be locked up but it comes back and you can use Word again but it keeps locking up trying to install something?
At first before I figured out the file associations were not working on my Xen server when I launched the app everything worked like the above but Word ultimatly gave me a "this fetaure not available check with your admin pop-up error" and simply closed down. Well like I said above in this paragraph the Xenapp server File Associations were not set so I had to log into the Xenapp server launch citrix client and launch word. Then the .doc file associations were set and my application started working but now acts like the above description in the paragraph above this one.
Has anyone else stream Office 2k3, Word, Excel 2k3 or 2007 for that matter with IE6 and any JRE like the original poster was trying to do.
KevinLavelle did you have success doing this? Does anyone have an answer to profiling IE6, JRE 6up7 so the IE6 website can luanch Word2k3 docs.
P.S. I've worked with Citrix twice on this and it still doesn't work. They got as far as I already got making this work.
Thanks in advance,
Syn
