I would like to test XenApp 5.x, see how it's set up, etc. etc., but not endure a full-blown upgrade, since this would require bringing in our consultants etc.We have 3 physical PS 4.0.x servers, which can each handle 40-some users, and I'd like to improve business continuity by having at least 1 virtual Citrix server.I know we'd only have 20-30 users possible at the most on any Citrix VM, so I would like to know how it would be possible to have a XenApp 5.x server become part of a PS 4.0.x farm.
Or would the licensing be a big issue, different license server, etc.??
The other alternative is to take a BESR backup image of one of the Citrix servers and convert it to a VM -- anyone done this??I'd like to know about blog posts, KB articles, etc.
BTW it's a VMware ESX 3.5 u3 environment.
Thank you, Tom
You would probably need to upgrade the version of the license server, plus you would need to either upgrade your PS 4.0 licenses or get some demo licenses from your rep. Personally, I would go with a net-new VM server and install all the updated components on that... new license server, new XenApp install, etc. That way, you don't take out your production environment.
Why is it called "Common Sense"? It doesn't seem all that common!
