Hello
I run a Terminal Server environment with Citrix Presentation Server 4.0. We publish the desktop for our users to log on and use (our desktops are Sun Ray thin clients). The WTS is Windows 2003 R2 SP2. We use ICA protocol (our UNIX client is version 8.46). We recently build a new baseline image of the WTS build and deployed it across our server farm.
We also stream most of our applications using Softgrid. On application we have sequenced on Softgrid is Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.16.
Since we deployed our new baseline, we have noticed that graphics rendered in Firefox are much poorer in quality. Pages opened on the same session in Internet Explorer are just fine. On our old baseline, we did not have the problem of Firefox images being less clear.
I am not a graphics expert, but I think what we are seeing is a lower color depth (fewer colors, more "blotchy" color fields") and well as a loss of resolution.
I have checked several forums and have not found a fix. I can say that we don't have the Zoom add-in installed. I also checked and played with several about:config settings with no luck. What is interesting is that if I log on to one of the servers that still has the old baseline, and stream the same Firefox sequenced app, the image quality is fine.
I hope this description is understandable enough - sorry if I am unclear. Bottom line question: How to I improve the image quality of Firefox if I am not using the image zoom utility?
Thanks!
Steve
Don´t think I can really help any...
When you are in the about:config did you compare the options between the two browsers by filtering the results (imag.../brows.../graphic.../etc). In Tools, Advanced, uncheck AutoScrolling/SmoothScrolling). Also in about:config, there is an option to automatically resize images, maybe you couyld play with this.
