The problem: When AIX servers, sharing a network segment with my Citrix farms, are set up on Etherchannel, they are bogged down by errors indicating IP address conflicts comming from my Citrix servers. The common elements of these servers is that they are using Broadcom NICs teamed with Smart Load Balancing.

The AIX engineers told us we had to reconfigure these NICs as Generic Trunking to resolve the problem. Since we did that, I have been seeing repeated failures in connecting to Data Store and much slower user experience on the Citrix servers. I have been unable to find any guidance on teaming modes and little to support the AIX engineers' claims.

I have 45 citrix servers in one domain separated into two farms. One farm is XPE FR2, the other is XenApp 4.0. We have been migrating servers from the older to the newer as their accounts are able.

Has anyone got any advice or guidance?
