Hi,
Hoping someone can help me as im at the end of my tether trying to get this to wrok. Basically we have a windows 2003 server which is our web server and until the other day we were able to to rdc onto it no problems. The terminal server service wont start. Its currently set to manual and when starting gets right near the end and fails with error 1053: could not start the terminal services service on local computer. Then I click ok and it hangs on starting until i reboot it.
I have tried reinstalling the service, running sfc /scannow all to which fail fixing it. I have also installed it as a terminal server to see if this would help but fails also. I just need to be able to connect to it through RDC to control it rather than having to go up to the server room.
Any Ideas?
Much Appreciation in advance.
From eventid.net with the error code there is a specific suggestion for terminal services. It might point you in th right direction.

As per Microsoft: "This behavior can occur if the Terminal Services component is not installed or is disabled. Add the Terminal Services component by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel before attempting to start the service". See M222146 for more details.
Best wishes

have had this issue in the past; unfortunately never was able to resolve it without a repair installation; install VNC on the server for temporary workaround to remotely access it
Hmm, not much info to go on but I would suggest you recreate the RDP listener using tscc.msc
