Hi, hope someone here can help me with my problem. Logins on our Citrix Server are rather slow - sometime it takes up to serveral minutes:
Steps taken until now:
- I wrote a script to delete cookies at logoff (the profiles now have many tousands small files less)
- I delete links from %appdata%\Microsoft\Office\Recent which are older than 30 days (also here I could get rid of many small files)
- Home Share is redirected
- Favorites are redirected
-
still the logon takes at least 45 sec but goes up to several minutes:
Futher steps I investigated:
- Turn on user-login debugging - found the following information: (last two lines show a delay of ~50sec) WHY?
- Started a Citrix Trace Session (based on http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX117590) which gives me so much information I can't really analyze...what information is important here ? What basic guidlines can I follow here?
- What else can cause these login troubles I also found the following (here http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX101705) concerning Fonts Searching?
Thank you very much
Regards

Try this:
Ultimately I had success by using two articles. Two registry hacks helped. Thought you might need this info as well. Logon time down to 4 seconds.
First Article:
Reduced from 60 seconds to 20 seconds. Patch from MS recommended as well but it didn't make a difference for me. Just needed the regkey.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941158
Regkey

Second Article
Article CTX104893. http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX104893

@Jody Howard - I can not find the patch to download? Do you have a link? I would need the german 2003 sp2 version if available. Or is it just the regkey?
Thanks!

You need to request the hotfix at microsoft. Mostly they are free of charge. After implementign the hotfix you can enable it by setting the registrykey.

Is there any online procedure for the requrest - I've never done this before?

Well I just tried it and installed the english patch on a german system - it worked and now the one issue 20 sec is solved...it still only running on the testmachine but i am thinking of installing it on one production machine testwise...until now i could not detect any problems...we'll see...
Not after checking some logs I could see that not every user is having the 20sec delay but for these who have it should now be solved...but still there is the fact that other users experience long logins and the userenv.log shows this:
No one having an idea what this could mean?
USERENV(228.1ec) 16:51:00:361 Creating Local Profile
USERENV(228.1ec) 16:51:00:361 Local profile name is
USERENV(228.1ec) 16:51:00:361 RestoreUserProfile: Reconciling roaming profile with local profile

Out of interest which patch did you patch with KB941158 or KB899409
Also one other question I had was, are you running AD/NDS or both? As I have see this before with NDS.

Hi Emil,
we only use AD but I just found the answer to my question:
I noticed that there is the folder %appdata%\Microsoft\Office\Recent with approx. 2 Thousand files (links - references to opend files, links, and so on) in it...after deleting them the delay was reduced to 7 seconds what before was 40 t0 50 sec. So probably at this point the files are copies...
Thank you very much @all!!
