I was curious if you have 32 bit print servers, what issues can you run into with running a 64 bit PS? Will this even function? I would like to move our systems over to 64 bit later in the year, but I'm concerned with issues such as printing and other network services. Thanks for anyone that's gone down this path that can shed some light.

64-bit servers require 64-bit drivers. you can draw conclusions from there [:)]

I kind of guessed they required 64 bit on the PS, but wondered if there were any issues with using a 64 bit print driver to print to a 32 bit print server?

You are both correct in that 64bit OS required 64bit drivers. I have the same situation. Several hundred printers and a recently configured 64bit PS4. I have only had one issue so far with our ERP system. When the clients selected LPT1 within the ERP system which maps to their default printer nothing would happen. A PS4 hotfix cleared that problem however. All other print jobs work fine and I never had a problem printing directly through windows applications. The univeral print driver is pretty good at handling printer mappings. You can always download 64bit printer drivers from the manufacturers website and add them to your Citrix 64bit server if you had an unsupported printer. Hope this helps.

In our 64bit farm, we are ONLY running Citrix UPD. I have yet to find an application that does not work correctly, even our custom VB and COBOL programs work just fine. NO printers to manage inside CMC, only UPD to the client workstations then off to their local Print Servers from there.

Hi Adam,
Using UPD do you get printout allignment issues. We are currently running UPD and get printout with fonts shrinking down to one or two size's. Some excel sheets dont print grid lines and such. How is your setup we have "Use Universal drivers only" policy under drivers should i change.

For people that are only using the citrix UPD how do you handle printing to devices like photocopiers where users expect to be able to staple, holepunch etc?

Hi,

If you click on the UPD properties button in a typical print dialog box, you'll see a Local Settings button on the Client settings tab. This button opens up the printer properties/settings on the local printer.

Has anyone run into issues where trying to Print an IE page within Citrix does not autofit to the page? All other applications seem to print fine, but when you highlight an IE page and try to print, the page gets cut off and doesnt autofit so that its all on the letter paper size.

Been looking around and tried to play with the settings on the printer but it hasnt helped yet. If i print an IE page from my PC it can autofit to the page size, Citrix seems to ignore this however.

Any takers?
