When selecting Resource Manager from PS4 CMC I noticed my Database Connection Server is one of my Citrix Servers. Is that normal? I am certain that I have a SQL box that houses the Citrix DB and was thinking that server should be listed as the Database Connection Server. But, I am not too familiar. Also, trying to get some reports for me is impossible.

Thanks

That's normal. You need a CPS to act as database connection server. That server will connect to your database server, in your case the SQL server. You can check this in the resource management tabs.
To create reports, first create a report specification. You need to create a ODBC link to the SQL database first (just follow the instructions) and off you go.

To expand a bit on what Walter stated, the Summary Database Connection Server has to be a Citrix server. The way the process works is as follows:

Each Citrix PS server gathers stats all day long and holds these stats locally. Then, at a pre-configured time (midnight by default), the summary database connection server gathers the local data for each server. Finally, the summary database connection server writes the gathered data to the summary database (the SQL server).

As far as reports go, you can use the Access Suite Console, the Citrix Semantic Report Model (requires SQL Server Reporting Services) http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX109187, Web Interface for Resource Manager http://www.jasonconger.com/ShowPost.aspx?strID=32931f5a-b247-45f1-b562-4b2f5e3bd3f5, or even some commercial products like XTS.

Anyone have recommended ways of keeping historical data that is purged from the summary database? For example if my summary database is set to hold just 3 months of information, how would i go about keeping the information from 6 months ago and having it accessible so that the summary database doesnt grow too large?
