DELL 920 driver install fails with "....print monitor is unknown", in the Printing forum on BrianMadden.com

THank you #3!!! I was pulling my hair out on this one too! Dell couldn't help me either. Did you know government purchased computers are directed to the phone help center in the US while the rest are directed to India. Strange & unfair no?

Same here, spent 2 hours on the phone with the same old bull. I keep telling the tech support guys that the driver was not the problem. After reading this post I was printing in 5 mins. "LEXbce server" is the server for all Lexmark products. I had a simple z515 with xp on a IBM system.

I have same problem and a headache - it is enough to want to stop using the computer entirely. what a frigging waste of time. My wife unplugged the a920 to plug into her laptop. When she plugged it back in, it was no longer recognized. It cannot be installed by plug and play or by removing and reloading the software - both processes fail. I used to get the message that the spooler was off. I found lots of information on how to turn it back on, but most of it failed because you could not even access the areas to turn it on. I finally was able to turn it on using commands, but guess what? The frigging thing now will not install because "print monitor is not recognized". If I need a copy, I will write it out in pen. It is much easier and takes less time. Damn Dell, and damn microsoft (sp2 probably involved!).

I'm having exactly the same error msg. "the printer driver was not installed.The specified print monitor is unknown.".
But the thing is I'm trying to add this printer to my print servers,but couldn't....

any suggestion........what should i do?....i don't have the service that is being mentioned in above msg.

I didn't try yet, but maybe it will work with the lexmark driver (a920 is the same as lexmark x1150):
