I wish to access server using remote desktop and print to local USB printer. I am using Window 2003 server as terminal server and WinXP SP2 as client PC. I setup the Canon LBP 810 driver on both server and client, but can't print. The printer is connect to WinXP PC.

Please help. Thanks.

Hi Guest:

Accessing USB devices is tricky from within the TS session.

Three usable options we have found so far:

* buy a HP JEtDirect with USB support and print from TS using direct TCP printing (usually works, depends on printer!)
* share the local printer from the XP, and print to it from TS using TCP printing (works fine provided the share works)
* get rid of the USB printer and get yourself a parallel printer (works always and works fine)

And there are other options ($$$).

Hi

This ia a bit late but...

Assuming the Canon LBP810 is terminal services compliant, maybe this is will solve your problem:
(If the printer uses a DOT4 port rather than USB, it's a good bet.)
