Hi guys

I have been googling about for quite a while now, trying to find a detailed description or some sort of whitepaper explaining the purpose of the XenServer templates for XenApp servers.

Only thing i seem to be able to find is the sales pitch, XenApp will perform much better when using the template, and the quick and dirty "some properties for the OS and WM is being set with the template"

Does anyone have a whitepaper explaining in details what the templates really does to the OS and the WM?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Just googled:

xenapp xenserver template

And came across this article:

http://community.citrix.com/blogs/citrite/anilma/2008/08/04/Shedding+some+light+on+XenApp+on+XenServer+performance+tuning

Looks like it's mostly about reserving more shadow memory for the Xenapp guest. Basically the same thing VMware does in ESX 3.5 Update 2
