Outlook continually crashes - may be printing related? - July 03, 2008

 Hi,

Okay I'm absolutely stuck here and was hoping someone can help. I have a newly built citrix farm which ran ok under test conditions but since going live is rapidly going down the pan.

MFXP SP4 with XE104W2K3R02 running Office 2003 SP3.

Outlook crashes all the time, application hang standard error, Hanging application OUTLOOK.EXE, version 11.0.8169.0, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

seems to be replicated by hovering the mouse over the print button, but the spooler doesn't seem to crash. Tried a repair but no difference.

Has anybody come across this before? We've a lot of client created printer failures, and if it comes down to it we can disabled it but the users will be miffed lol.

Have a look at this CTX article:

Rather than the hotfixes mentioned in the article, set DEP for "essential Windows programs and services only" or disable it altogether in the boot.ini file - it's more trouble than it's worth IMHO.
