Upgrading IE6 to IE7 and having issues with UNC file paths - July 03, 2008

Currently we use IE6 and there are no issues reaching \\server\share file paths from IE6. In IE7 though it has to open up another window of explorer and when i do this it gives me a message titled address bar "{path} is currently not available" but it DOES open it. I've heard about using the path c:\windows\ie7\iexplorer instead but it's just using IE6 and i would like to use tabbed browsing.

Anyone have any thoughts regarding this?

Still looking for an answer on this.

My goal is to run IE7 in a citrix enviroment that i can type in any file path and any website name and access it without any issues.

Whether i do this using normal IE7 or the IE6 looking version in c:\windows\ie7\iexplore.exe it doesn't matter. I just want it to work.

Hi,

The only method that works consistently for me is to use this command line:

C:\WINDOWS\ie7\iexplore.exe -e ::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}

As you mentioned, no tabs...

FYI: The folder above is the GUID for My Documents.
