Last week Citrix officially changed the name of their Ardence Server product to Citrix Provisioning Server. It appears that the product itself hasn't changed at all.
What’s more interesting is the fact that Ardence will now be sold through Citrix’s worldwide channel. Previously Citrix let Ardence operate more-or-less independently of them. In fact, several of the top distributors in Europe for Ardence are not Citrix partners at all. Citrix distributor agreements are typically exclusive on a country-by-county basis, so when Citrix bought Ardence they couldn't automatically extend distribution agreements to all the old Ardence partners since many of them were operating in countries that already had another exclusive Citrix distributor.
Sorting this out might be kind of messy, but such is business!
