Citrix iForum is coming up October
13-16, 2003, and it looks like some mobile data vendors are going to be there
big time. Two of the three
gold sponsors (so
far) are companies that focus on
mobile high-speed Internet solutions. (Each gold sponsor is shelling out $45,000
to be there.) One of them is
Verizon Wireless, who will no
doubt be showing off their nationwide CDMA-based
Express Network service. (I've been using
it for
over a year and I love it!) In past years, Verizon only had one of those 3x3'
wall booths. Another gold sponsor is a company called
Inmarsat.
I've never heard of them, but it appears that they offer satellite data
communications solutions. (Thin clients on ocean vessels and airplanes, I guess.)
This is all pretty cool, and it really makes you think about what can be done
with this technology.
