Brian Madden is known throughout the world as an opinionated, super technical, fiercely-independent desktop virtualization expert. He's written four books and over 2,000 articles about desktop virtualization. (Brian's most recent book, Desktops as a Service, was published in 2014.) His blog (www.brianmadden.com) receives millions of visitors per year and is a leading source for conversation, debate, and discourse about the application and desktop virtualization industry. Brian is also the creator of BriForum, a vendor-neutral conference about desktop virtualization, end user computing, and enterprise mobility management. Having been ranked the #1 speaker at both VMworld and Citrix Synergy, Brian maintains a busy speaking schedule, has been written about in Wired Magazine, heard on NPR, quoted in The Economist, and featured on podcasts around the world.
Brian started his IT career in 1995 and launched BrianMadden.com in 2002 in conjunction with the publication of his first book. The following year he quit his day job as a consultant at HP to become an independent consultant. He started blogging on BrianMadden.com in May 2003 (check out the first post!), started teaching training classes in 2004, and held the first BriForum in 2005. His best friend (and colleague from Ohio in the 90s) Gabe Knuth joined BrianMadden.com in 2006, and in 2008 BrianMadden.com & BriForum were acquired by TechTarget. Brian & Gabe still enjoy working together writing for BrianMadden.com, enjoying BriForum, and remain best friends, seventeen years & counting!
