In Joe Shonk’s many virtual desktop and application journeys over the last few years, a reoccurring theme has continued to persist: storage. Specifically, the lack of understanding of how storage works and what kind of impact it has in a virtual environment. In this session, attendees will learn: storage terminology and basics; the difference between block-level storage and file-level storage; the ways hypervisors attach to and utilize storage; how virtual desktops and application servers utilize storage; real-world examples on how to size and choose what kind of storage you need and how to best configure it; and storage best practices and why they matter.
