Sooner or later, most application delivery administrators find themselves looking under the hood of their Windows servers in an attempt to explain application or server issues. WinDbg is a powerful, free Microsoft tool that can reveal an enormous amount of information about the state of an OS or application. However, it isn’t the easiest tool to use, and it often is better suited for programmers than administrators. This session will focus on practical configuration and troubleshooting methodologies that can help diagnose and explain operating system and application behavior and crashes. Topics covered will include the state of various memory types and pools at both a global server level and at the session level, scalability and performance issues, basic crash analysis, and more.
