This is a video of a breakout session from BriForum 2008, presented by Brian Madden, Ron Oglesby, Jason Davidson, and Brian Duckering.
Session Description: Virtualization takes on many forms, from application
virtualization to OS virtualization to hardware virtualization. As you
look at the industry trends, everyone is building a portfolio that
encompasses many of these options. Do hardware features have a role
amongst these solutions? Would application or OS virtualization operate
better if there were features on the computer for it? Is there a clear
winner in this space which will deliver a compute model which can
address enterprise needs, or are we trending towards a hodgepodge of
solutions? Are new devices and hardware going to provide new usage
models when paired with virtualization?
In this panel discussion, we’ll talk about the role hardware plays
in virtualization, or whether it’s all just purely a software solution.
