This is a video of a breakout session from BriForum 2007, presented by Thorsten Rood.
Session Description: A Citrix Access Suite's dependency on a working SQL server to
host the various configuration stores on it is often underestimated.
Availability and failover/recovery procedures rely on full functional
SQL operations and get stalled if in case of a disaster the SQL
instance is not accessible online, too. The same time the official
whitepapers suffer real world configuration hints and limitations. This
session illustrates the underlying critical path for the Citrix product
suite (all products from Presentation Server and Access Gateway
Advanced up to EdgeSight and Desktop Broker) and offers methods to
overcome the effects when an SQL instance goes down unexpectedly. Two
major mechanisms are shown in an interactive VM demo lab: configuring a
continuously replicated IMA CPS datastore as well as running a mirrored
database solution based on MSSQL2005. Associated database hardening
hints and pitfalls are outlined.
