Dell client business solutions group created a nice document about Citrix Provisioning Server (CPVS), formely know as Ardence.
This document describes the steps to create a Dell flexible computing solution for on demand desktop delivery using a CPVS infrastructure.
This document isn't only useful when using Dell hardware, it gives the reader a good and detailed overview of the nessesary setps to implement Citrix Provisioning Server CPVS.

It might be interesting to add application virtualization into the mix here. If you can separate the app delivery from the desktop, you can avoid all of the image management problems. There's nothing stopping you from buying a virtualization/streaming solution on your own, but it would be nice if Dell packaged it up for you.
