While preparing for my presentation @ BriForum next week AND all the discussion about VDI within the industry i thought that this information could be usefull. Microsoft created a special licensing format for diskless (eg Ardence) and concurrent images on a diskless PC.
What is Windows VECD? Windows Vista Enterprise Centralized Desktop (VECD) is part of the Windows Vista Enterprise
family, and offers a flexible option for early-adopter enterprise customers
wanting to deploy Windows Vista on centralized desktop computers.
Diskless PC right? Windows Vista Enterprise for Diskless PC provides customer the right to have an unlimited number
of Windows operating system images on a SAN or NAS, and up to four (4) concurrent running Windows
operating system images on a diskless PC. To get more than one concurrent image on a diskless PC will
require the use of PC virtualization stacks, such as Microsoft Virtual PC.
