I did a little digging as I was confused about customer managed StorageZones vs. StorageZone connectors. It begged the question why anyone would bother with forklifting over data to StorageZones (either Citrix or customer managed ones) if you could simply leverage StorageZone connectors to make corporate data available via existing shares and file servers.

This blog article explains the key differences:

The biggest differences appear to be:

- StorageZone Connectors provide READ-ONLY access to "legacy" network shares

- It's currently a tech preview, not ready for production

- It's only available for iOS devices

- There's only a "limited subset" of ShareFile features available for StorageZone connectors.

On the latter point, I'm guessing this means no syncing or versioning but I can't find any Citrix documention to confirm that suspicion.

Thought I'd mention that blog post in case others are confused too...

LMAO Ok I know I should be focusing on the technical information but at 1:17 hearing someone shart themselves and the presenter trying not to react to the sound is really keeping me from taking this seriously or taking in any information. Am I the only immature techie who noticed this?

Interesting conversation, but I have to disagree. I think AD will stick around for some time yet, but that with Windows RT Microsoft is beginning to say that the concept of a Domain is dead. AD will remain an identity source, but the idea of a locked down managed group of devices is an anachronism now...

They cheap because at the end of the day you pay for what you get such as NO USB redirection (only thing that works on their USB port is memory sticks), no proper management tools, cant integrate into Vmware View or Xendesktop, late with patches, cant do dual screen cause they still use outdated VGA ports and their propriety software (UXP) is outdated and has heavy overhead on the network. Now go figure! good for low end education and thats it!
