At the 2012 RSA Conference here in San Francisco, I spoke to Kevin Watkins, CEO and founder of Appthority.

Appthority provides a service for testing mobile applications. Through dynamic and static testing, Appthority can find security vulnerabilities in application code, check for what APIs an app is calling, and make sure that apps aren't doing anything malicious. Once your apps—which can be apps that your organization developed or third-party apps that happen to be in your environment—are scanned, it's up to you to decide what to do with the knowledge. Appthority works mostly with other partners, integrating with MDM, MAM, and app store solutions. Their service is integrated with a REST API.
