The previous chapters detailed necessary considerations for designing your MetaFrame XP environment. This chapter discusses the core of your MetaFrame environment-your applications. MetaFrame XP exists for one reason-to allow users to run applications. In fact, the only reason that any IT department exists is to support applications for users. Clearly, it's important to build your MetaFrame XP design around the applications that your users require and the methods that by which they be accessed.

This chapter begins with a study of what it takes in install applications onto a MetaFrame server. After that we'll examine how applications are published in MetaFrame XP environments and some strategies that you can use in your environment. Next we'll discuss application load management. This chapter will close with a section about how you can apply your new application knowledge to the design of your server farm.
