Last December I wrote about VMware's lack of blogging in the desktop space (which was true) and claimed that meant they didn't really care about desktops (which was debated). Since then, VMware desktop blog posts have become more frequent with some really great ones in the mix.
The four VMware corporate desktop blogs I'm aware of are:
http://communities.vmware.com/blogs/virtualdesktop/ (VMware employee Warren Ponder's blog)
http://blogs.vmware.com/thinapp/ (Corporate ThinApp blog, and overall the best desktop blog at VMware)
http://blogs.vmware.com/view/ (Corporate VMware View blog)
http://blogs.vmware.com/view-point/ (Desktop CTO Scott Davis' blog)
There's still a bit of weirdness to sort out, like Warren's blog is on the "communities" site, rather than the "corporate blogs" site. (The only reason this matters is because as it is now, Warren's blog doesn't show up on the list of corporate blogs, which is a shame.) Also, ThinApp's Jonathan Clark did a great piece on the future of ThinApp which ended up on the View Point blog, which is supposed to be Scott's blog.
But these little things aside, I'm glad to see that more desktop information is coming out of VMware. Some of my favorite posts from the last few months:
PCoIP Zero Client and VMware View 4, by Warren Ponder on Dec 6.
VMware View for "Thick" Clients, by Scott Davis on Jan 28
When do scalability claims not really matter? by Mike Coleman on Feb 10.
ThinApp - Designed for continuous innovation, by Jonathan Clark on Feb 22.
Of course I still want more, more, more! ...But I'll take this as a good first step.
