After talking about BriForum 2010 for months and jockeying some dates around, we're pleased to let everyone know that we've finalized all the details for BriForum 2010, which will take place from June 15-17, 2010 at the Chicago Hilton.
2010: Small improvements & changes from 2009
This will be our 8th BriForum, and we feel like we've got the general event down and we're not really planning on changing too much from last year. That said, we're making a few small tweaks based on last year's feedback, including"
- We shifted the event from July to June which should help attendees from Europe since July is a big holiday month.
- We're moving the Day 1 party offsite (to "Lucky Strike," the same place we had the party in 2007). We'll have a full dinner at this party. :)
- We're moving the BriForum Geek Out Game Show to the evening of Day 2, which we'll host at the venue with beer. (But it will be early, so that evening will still be free for personal dinners.)
What's the same as last year?
As I said, most of BriForum is the same as last year (with the exception of course that we've got brand-new content for 2010. ;)
- The conference is still focused on real-world, technical, from-the-trenches desktop and application virtualiztion.
- The technical breakout sessions are presented by members of the community, and all are welcome to submit speaking proposals.
- Same DEMO Lab. (i.e. all of our exhibitors will bring demos and their technical staffs.)
- Like years past, we have a room block at the Chicago Hilton, which you're welcome to use. Of course if you want to find your own place on priceline.com, that's fine too.
- Same video recording of all session with our side-by-side video player. Post-show online access will be free to BriForum attendees.
- Same independent spirit.
- Same general schedule (75 minute sessions, three days, four breakout sessions at once.)
- Same hotel as last year. (I know some people didn't like the hotel because our conference was in the basement. Other people liked it since most cell phones didn't work. Like it or not, the venue was a cool space--I loved how the breakout sessions, main stage, food, and DEMO Lab were all right there together.)
- Same price as last year.
Early bird registration is $995 through March 19.
The early bird registration is now open. Early bird registration is $995, with the full registration price being $1495. (This is the same price as last year.) The early bird registration cutoff is March 19.
So you want to speak or present at BriForum 2010?
As I mentioned previously, all of the independent BriForum technical breakout sessions are presented by members of the community. If you would like to speak at BriForum this year, please submit your session idea via the "Call for Papers" page on BriForum.com. (I also blogged about this last week.) If you're selected as a speaker, then you we'll pay your travel, hotel, and conference admission. (Plus you'll have cool bragging rights!)
I think that's it? I'm looking forward to this year's event, and I'll see everyone in June!
