Symantec to VMware and Citrix: “Oh yeah, OH YEAH? Intel’s Gregory Bryant is our drummer!”

I recently wrote about the comical interplay between VMware and Citrix as they tripped over each other to convince customers about which of them had a stronger relationship with Intel.

In January, Citrix announced that they were partnering with Intel to create a bare-metal client hypervisor. The press release had a quote from Intel’s Gregory Bryant.

Then last month, VMware made a very similar announcement, bragging about how they were ALSO working with Intel on their bare-metal client hypervisor. When asked, “Isn’t this just like the announcement that Citrix made?” VMware responded by saying, (I am not making this up) that “Our relationship with Intel is stronger than Citrix’s. In fact, we had Intel on stage today with us.” To that end, the same Gregory Bryant from Intel was on stage during VMware’s VMworld keynote, and he was also quoted in VMware’s version of the “we’re partnering with Intel” press release.

Fast-forward to this week, at Symantec ManageFusion 09 in Las Vegas. During the opening keynote (which was GREAT, by the way), Symantec’s Steve Morton brought out none other than Intel’s Gregory Bryant to talk about vPro and how the two companies were working together. (more on that tomorrow)

However, Symantec raised the “Gregory Bryant Bar,” because Steve invited Gregory to play a quick bit as the drummer in the Symantec “Manage This” keynote band.

Who’s next?

I’m going to go find AMD. I have a feeling I could get them to do my laundry for a year.

AMD have to start promoting their DASH compliant product, more aggressively.

Did Greg throw his sticks into the crowd after the song, might see them on Ebay. :-P
